What’s love got to do with it? Well, everything when you’re talking about the Queen of Rock ’n’ Roll, Tina Turner, who sadly succumbed to illness at the age of 83. Because seriously, what’s not to love? The voice, the hair, the moves, the absolutely historic tenacity, and of, course, those epically long legs!
The sexy singer from Nutbush has had fans busting a nut since the 1960s, thanks to her penchant for barely there mini skirts with high slits that left little to the imagination. The idea was that they made it easier for Tina to perform her high energy dance moves while belting out hits like “Proud Mary” and “River Deep Mountain High” but they ended up becoming such a signature style that she famously had those luscious legs insured for $3.2 million dollars.
The “Private Dancer” singer may have kept her best bits private, but Tina delivered steamy performances for decades. Besides her amazing live concerts and music videos, she’s known for two iconic film roles - as the recklessly ravishing Acid Queen in Ken Russell’s film version of The Who’s Tommy and as the Amazonian Aunty Entity in Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome. We don’t need another hero, but we do need more of Tina in her cleavage-baring chain mail!
It’s almost inconceivable that Tina never slipped a nip during all her years of shaking her phenomenal fringe-covered body, but even without getting to see more skin from the sultry star, there’s still no denying Tina Turner was simply the best.
RIP Tina
