The first Friday in March has brought us some legendary nude scenes, along with some you may have overlooked at the time! Here are some of the best nude scenes that made their debut on March 6 in movie nudity history!
2015: Unfinished Business
This totally forgettable movie's only distinction is that it was thelast big box comedystarring vehicle for Vince Vaughn. While he's headlined some more indie flicks since then like Brawl in Cell Block 99, he seems to have turned the corner into character actor, at least in the big budget Hollywood movies he does. I saw this movie in theaters and couldn't tell you much about it other than the famous wheelbarrow scene (above) witha toplessJil Funke humoring Dave Franco's absolutely moronic character.
There's also ascene where Noelle Trudeau and Francesca Shipsey, among many others, have a topless pillow fight with Tom Wilkinson...
Did I mention Tom Wilkinson was in this? There's alsoa topless scene from character actress Bonita Friedericy(House of Sand and Fog) making her nude debut in a co-ed sauna alongside other topless babes like the seriously stackedRebecca Olejniczak...
Not bad for a boob comedy, it's just the comedy part I've totally forgotten about I guess.
2015: October Gale
Not much to say about this mostly forgettable romantic drama apart from it containing Patricia Clarkson's most recent nude scene when she goes topless in the tub 19 minutes in!
2009: Watchmen
Love him or hate him, Zack Snyder has a knack for taking still frames of a comic book and bringing them to life in painstaking detail. He gave Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons' magnum opus the shot-for-shot treatment with this 2009 flick, theatrically released in a 162 minute cut that felt both overly long and too short at the same time. Probably the most disappointing thing for skin fans was that we didn't get anything more than some amazing cleavage from Carla Gugino as Sally Jupiter, the original Silk Spectre.
Of course there's the famous sex scene in Nite Owl's ship between Malin Åkerman and Patrick Wilson set, hilariously I might add, to Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah." Malin gets nude and grinds on Wilson's lap, and you can now enjoy it in GIF form without having to sully the memory of Cohen's most famous song...
Surprisingly, the film's only other nudity comes courtesy of Tara Frederick as a prostitute attempting to get Rorschach's attention...
Whatever other claims you want to level at this film, you can't say it's not accurate to its source material, giant squid monster aside. Snyder's 186-minute cut of the film is particularly, slavishly loyal to the comic anthology, but this film's failure to make back its money at the box office more or less killed the R-rated superhero film until Deadpool revived it seven years later. The film's legacy is still up for debate, but it also more or less ended the trend of the panel-for-panel comic book recreation subgenre started by Sin City four years earlier. That, in and of itself, makes it an important film in my book.
2009: Tokyo!
This anthology film features three shorts set in Japan's capital city directed by three men with distinct visual styles: Bong Joon-ho, Leos Carax, and Michel Gondry. In Gondry's segment, "Interior Design" Ayako Fujitani is stripped of her clothing and has to make a mad nude dash for a bus shelter!
1998: Twilight
Ten years before this title would be ruined by sparkly chaste vampires, we got this good old fashioned thriller for grown-ups starring Paul Newman, Gene Hackman, and Susan Sarandon. Of course, the three big stars take a backseat in our memories of this film, as skin fanatics remember this as the film where Reese Witherspoon made her nude debut...
It's a spectacular nude debut, well-lit, lengthy, right at the beginning of the movie, lots of great potential to make stills, more or less gratuitous, the kind of nude debut you dream about...
It stinks that Reese made us wait 16 years before her next nude scene in Wild, but she made the wait worth the while by keeping her body in absolute killer condition!
1998: The Big Lebowski
Though it's now one of the most quoted, most favorited movies of all time, the Coen Brothers' 1998 comedy didn't catch fire at the box office when it was released 21 years ago today. One of the most talked about scenes at the time involved Tara Reid (above) and her offer to suck The Dude's cock for a thousand dollars. Julianne Moore steals the show as Maude, the eccentric artist who ends up carrying The Dude's child and gets one of the strangest nude entrances in film history...
And of course, there's adult star Asia Carrera's topless scene moments later in the movie within a movie, Logjammin' starring Karl Hungus, coming shortly before he fixes the cable...
"Lord. You can imagine where it goes from here"
1987: Angel Heart
Alan Parker's bloody thriller set deep within the world of voodoo is of course best remembered for raising Bill Cosby's ire over the participation of his on-screen daughter Lisa Bonet. A pillar of virtue at the time, Cosby more or less succeeded in derailing Bonet's career, which is a real shame because shedemonstrates arealgo-for-broke tenacity as an actress...
Lisa wasn't the only one doffing her duds in this flick. Her co-star Charlotte Rampling shows off her right breast while laying dead on the ground (above), and Elizabeth Whitcraft flaunts her fun bags while sharing a scene with the notoriously prickly Mickey Rourke!
1987: Lethal Weapon
Finally on this day 32 years ago, the action buddy cop franchise was launched with this Shane Black-penned adventure. Jackie Swanson kicks the film off with her bare breasted death scene—a theme Black would come back to for The Nice Guys...
We also get another peek at Jackie's peaks on a television screen later in the film...
