The story details an insensitive comment a crew member made about Kate's body and how she stuck up for herself, forever proud of her bikini body. We love her bikini bod, too! She recently detailed a moment on set in which a crew member (she did not name the person nor did she say what the person's position was, so it is unclear if this person was even qualified or authorized to say anything like this) suggested that she hide her belly. The crew member suggested she sit up straighter to hide her "belly rolls".
"So you can’t see my belly rolls? Not on your life! It was deliberate, you know?" She says that having rolls was authentic to the character and that she did not bother to exercise before filming because her photojournalist character Lee Miller likely would not have worried about stringent Hollywood exercise routines in the middle of World War II in the 1940s. I think Kate Winslet has a very informed point there!
Kate brushed the comment off, but she used the opportunity to remind people that her body does not need editing. She does not need to sit up straighter than her character usually would to look "more perfect". She does not need Photoshop or crash diets or botox. She decries all of that and instead insists on being as natural as possible. I love her for that - so does Hollywood because Kate keeps winning awards and racking up nominations for her realistic character portrayals!

She has previously revealed that people on the set of Titanic also thought that she should lose weight to do her nude scene. Can you imagine if she had lost weight?! She wouldn't have had those full fun bags and hourglass hips! Beautiful curves like that come naturally to a woman like Winslet. Let her show them off!
I can't wait to see this contentious bikini scene and see how her body looks, belly rolls, and all. Winslet continues to take risks and make great projects. I hope the industry learns to stay out of her way and let her do her thing in as little clothing as possible.
