Perhaps you've never heard of Charli. Or, more likely, you can't tell the difference between Charli XCX and other popstars (like Lorde - that's a cheeky joke that I will get into in a moment). Born as Charlotte Aitchison in Essex, the 31-year-old singer started her career on Myspace. Remember that? She was a teenager posting her music online in 2008 before most of her current peers even knew what Myspace was. Hell, some of these young women probably didn't know what long division was.
Charlotte, on the other hand, was gaining traction for her Myspace music after DJs started playing it at indie sleaze raves. By 2010, she had a record deal!
Charli then went on to collaborate on major dance hits of the 2010s that most people have no idea that she worked on. Some of those songs include Iggy Azalea's "Fancy" and Icona Pop's "I Love It" before striking it big with her own Top 100 hit "Boom Clap" in 2014. She became a dance-pop icon all the way back then! Now it's ten years later and she's one of THE modern-day divas.
Her latest album is titled Brat and her song "Von Dutch" was supposed to be the main single from it, but then everyone heard her song "Girl So Confusing" and wondered which popstar the song was about. The song details a confusing friendship with a rival in the industry and fans quickly determined that it was Lorde. It turns out that the internet sleuths were right! Lorde and Charli XCX have released a remix where they work out their issues.
Lorde has still to work off her clothes, but Charli does the work for her. Charli XCX released a documentary a few years ago where she teased nudity. She never fully did it, but she did show off her panties as well as her bare shoulders in a bathtub.
This is the closest we get to seeing full-on Charli XCX going XXX. Will we see it someday? I hope so! Let's hope this Brat throws a tantrum and throws off her clothes.
