Last week we did a Female Filmmakers focus on French director Julia Ducournau who directed the body horror film Raw. She has outdone herself with the disgusting, sexy, and shocking film Titane which has been recently released. Let's take a look at the nudity in Titane!
Titane is a difficult watch. I'll just say that straight up. It's not for the faint of heart - but you can stick to the nude scenes here which are pretty hot and a lot of them don't have blood, guts, gore, and violence (although some do). There are seven nude scenes, so let's get into it!
The plot follows Agathe Rousselle who plays Alexia, a very troubled woman who has a penchant for violence. When she was a child, she got into a bad car accident when her father was driving the car and got distracted. She has skull injuries, so titanium plates were put into her head. She then distanced herself from her family, so they have no idea that she is working as a sex worker at a motor show who shakes her moneymaker in fishnet tights.
Oh, and she has sex with cars. Yes. You read that right. She has sex with the cars. She ties herself up in the backseat, starts the car, and lets it bounce around until she orgasms. You can watch this 46-second car-sex scene here that gives new meaning to backseat business:
Alexia reunites with her father at a time when violent crimes are on the rise in the area. He begins to realize that Alexia is the one responsible for the murders and attacks in the area. Uh oh! His own daughter is a really bad seed! It turns out that that is a theme explored in the movie: what do you do when your child is unrecognizable to you?
When Alexia is not having sex with cars, she is having sex in them. She bangs Garance Marillier - whom you may remember from Raw - and licks her nipples before giving them a nibble. They also shower together with another woman, but when they are alone in the shower they let their attraction to each other wash over them.
Later in the film, Alexia becomes pregnant and she spends a lot of time being naked and pregnant. When she is pregnant, she also picks at her body a lot, so the view of Agathe pregnant is no Madonna with child. She does not look angelic pregnant at all. She has scars and scratches all over her body and she shaves her head, so she looks like a preggo G.I. Jane.
The movie is WILD from there - as if everything I've already told you isn't crazy enough. You will have to watch it to find out what happens, but if you've seen Raw you probably know that you can expect the unexpected from director Julia Ducournau.
I appreciate that already Ducournau is creating a distinct style where she outs gorgeous French women in precarious, disgusting roles that focus on their bodies betraying them. I find that fascinating - and titillating! I can't wait to see what else Julia Ducournau has in store for her film fans.
And for fans of French lesbian action, check out this scene:
