While awaiting a ferry on a dark, stormy night, an attorney and his wife are witnesses to a brutal beating in the moody neo-noir Dark Harbor (1998). David (Alan Rickman) and Alexis Weinberg (Polly Walker) hurry to assist the victim, and in doing so they unwittingly involve themselves in a shadowy conspiracy that threatens both their lives. Director Adam Coleman Howard keeps viewers guessing right along with his protagonists in a psychological thriller that hurdles through a number of surprise twists and turns. The alluring Walker manages to keep the plot grounded, however, by weathering the storm in style. A not-to-be-missed scene finds the beauty reclining topless while puffing on a cigarette.
