The Chinese/French co-production Dam Street (2005) traces the shifting mores of Chinese society by following the story of Yun (Liu Yi), a schoolgirl whose unplanned pregnancy results in public disgrace. When the baby is born, her mother tells Yun it is dead and secretly gives it up for adoption. Later Yun becomes a singer in a stage show. During her pregnancy, we get a quick peek of some swollen sweater sacks over Yun’s even-more-swollen belly. And that will have you asking yourself, “Dam! Is that a body double?”
