News is swirling about director Yorgos Lanthimos' newest film, Poor Things, which debuted at the Venice Film Festival recently. In fact, critics are praising both the film and the performances as being the best of the year. One such performance is given by leading lady Emma Stone who also goes full force into a sex scene - a first for the actress! Are we really about to get an Emma Stone Poor Things sex scene? Let's talk about it.
Emma Stone is also getting a ton of acclaim for this role. She plays Bella Baxter, a woman who dies and is brought back to life by a stranger sci-fi doctor played by Willem Dafoe. Much like Dr. Frankenstein, this doctor has an unorthodox method of reanimation. He implants the brain of Bella's fetus into her head. Bella, a grown woman in Emma's 34-year-old body, thus has the brain of a baby.
I know that that sounds weird - maybe too weird to be sexy - but apparently the film is filled with sex. So much sex that I am unsure what the plot is after this procedure is done to her.
That means that Emma discovers the adult world with the mind of a child - including sex. Apparently, this character is VERY horny. From sticking a cucumber up her "hairy business" to attempting to become a sex worker in Paris, her character appears to be most fascinated by sex. But is Emma Stone nude in Poor Things? She reportedly appears totally nude several times which has me VERY excited.
Vulture reviewed the film like this: “She reveals herself to be one of cinema’s horniest legends, f***ing her way across the European seaboard. Stone’s performance matches that fearlessness; she goes for broke here, cumming loudly, her body and face hitting every note of the human sexual experience — thrill, disappointment, disgust, horror, intrigue.”
Does that sound hot, creepy, and weird? You bet! But would you expect anything less from an Emma Stone Poor Things sex scene from director Yorgos Lanthimos?
From Dogtooth to Alps to Killing of a Sacred Deer, the Greek director has made a name for himself through his strange and taboo subject manner as well as the purposefully stilted way that his actors speak (although he hasn't revisited that after his films became more mainstream following 2016's hit The Lobster).
This film is also not totally original. It is an adaptation of a novel and Lanthimos insists that all of the sex is an essential part of the novel. He worked with an intimacy coordinator whom he praises and both the coordinator and the director praise Emma Stone above all. I absolutely love that this very sexual film is getting this kind of praise and I have hope that it will lead up to the hype. I am excited!
This is, of course, not the first time that Emma starred in a Yorgos film. She even made her nude debut in his 2018 film The Favourite. She is also set to star in another film of his in the future called And. Is she ramping up the nudity as she gets more comfortable with the director? It sure does sound like it! Of course, the minute we get the Emma Stone Poor Things sex scene, we'll bring it to you, but here's Emma Stone's nude debut to tide you over until then...
