The Shape of Water won Best Motion Picture at the Oscars in 2018, and for good reason: Sally Hawkins, who plays main character Elisa, goes fully nude within the first five minutes before masturbating in the bathtub. In fact, this is her routine every single morning, which is pretty damn admirable in Mr. Skin's humble opinion. The movie is set in the early '60s, and Elisa, a mute woman (due to vocal chord injuries), works the night shift as a janitor in a high-security government lab. When a fish man (yes, you read that right; a being who is part human and part amphibian) is brought in, she forms an immediate bond with him and does everything in her power to save him from the evil people who would see him experimented on and destroyed. Besides the nudity on Sally's part, as well as a boob shot from fellow actress Lauren Lee Smith, the film is visually stunning with a plot that's all about love (sigh) between a woman and a ... fish. It was directed and written (in part) by Guillermo del Toro, who you may also recognize as being the director of a bunch of the Hellboy films, proving he is one very versatile dude. In addition to winning the big prize on Oscar night, Guillermo also took home a golden man for Best Director, with the film grabbing two more statues for music and production design, not to mention an additional nine Academy Award nominations. In fact, when you put together all the different awards shows around the world, The Shape of Water tallied up a total of 139 wins and 358 nominations. Not to be missed.
