Want a sexy Italian dish? How about a plate of Monica Vitti? You’ll definitely ask for seconds, and thirds, and fourths, and...well, you get the picture. Speaking of pictures, why not look up Blonde in Black Leather (1975)? Monica isn’t wearing leather, but she’s blonde and sexy in her silky slip while making it with a winged angel. Heavenly. Unfortunately, that was the closest Monica has ever come to getting nude on screen. Yes, despite the salaciousness of Italian cinema, especially in the '60s and '70s, Ms. Vitti somehow avoided showing her titties. Monica's skinless streak began all the way back in the 1954, when she scored an uncredited role in the comedy film Ridere! Ridere! Ridere! (AKA Laugh! Laugh! Laugh!). She followed that up with the biopic Adriana Lecouvreur (1955), and a couple years later she hooked up with director Michelangelo Antonioni, who made her a star not just in Italy but in arthouses across the world. She appeared in a number of his movies, including L'Avventura (AKA The Adventure) (1960), La Notte (AKA The Night) (1961), L'Eclisse (AKA The Eclipse) (1962), and Red Desert (1964). Her skinematography was a desert throughout the '60s and into the '70s until Blonde in Black Leather gave her her sole credit. Then it was back to abstinence for Monica, which she retained until the end of her career. Her final acting credit was the 1992 TV movie Ma tu mi vuoi bene? (But You...Do You Love Me?).
