Janet Munro is the daughter of Scottish comedian Alex Munro, but there's nothing funny about this almond-eyed cutie. Spunky Janet was a staple of British TV, even earning her the title of “Miss TV 1958.” During that same year, she caught the eye of family-friendly tycoon Walt Disney, and her rise to international stardom began. With a move to the United States, she signed a five-picture deal with the House of Mouse, an unprecedented contract for the then 24-year-old actress. In 1959, she starred in her first film for Disney, Darby O'Gill and the Little People, alongside a pre-Bond Sean Connery. The role of Katie O’Gill won Janet the Golden Globe for “Most Promising Newcomer,” and the petite star won a whole new fanbase. The spirited, brunette ingénue continued with Disney, making such classics as Third Man on the Mountain (1959) and The Swiss Family Robinson (1960). To shuck the wholesome-sweetheart label, Janet moved on to spicier parts, including a critically lauded role in Bitter Moon (1963). But it was The Day the Earth Caught Fire (1961) that forever changed this good girl into a true skinternational sensation. The movie is about the cover-up of a global disaster, but for Janet, there wasn’t enough after-shampoo towel action to cover up the girls. A quick glimpse at wide-set breasts with peek-a-boo perky nipples is almost too quick to fully indulge; luckily for you, Mr. Skin slows down the action with a Skin Vision version of the black-and-white movie clip—enhanced for your pleasure! Unfortunately, Fire was the last appearance of Janet’s lovely female form. In 1972, she returned to her acting origins, starring as Elizabeth Crichton in the British television series Adam Smith. Sadly, Janet passed away with a heart ailment during the filming of this series. Gone too soon at only 38, but most certainly not forgotten.
