Today Yvonne De Carlo is best remembered as Lily, Herman Munster’s vampiric vixen of a wife on the CBS cult comedy The Munsters, but Ms. De Carlo’s casabas had already been gracing the silver screen for twenty years before she put on her famous streaked fright wig. Beginning in 1941 she appeared in dozens of films, including the notorious flop western Salome Where She Danced (1945) and The Ten Commandments (1956), in which she played Moses’ wife Sephora. In 1975 Yvonne appeared in legendary exploitation director Al Adamson’s raunchy comedic western Blazing Stewardesses. Though there’s some great nudity in this film, none of it belongs to Yvonne, leaving us to only imagine what kind of lily pads Mrs. Munster was covering with that giant bat medallion.
