Ashanti Sexy

What do you call someone who releases a smash album at the same time as she’s starting her acting career? You call her Ashanti. Hailing originally from Long Island, she made her acting debut as an uncredited student in the film Malcolm X (1992) when she was 12. Ten years later at 22, she dropped her self-titled debut album Ashanti, landing at number one on both the Billboard Top 200 and the R&B charts, and setting a SoundScan record as the most albums sold by any debut female artist in the chart’s history, earning her a spot in the Guinness World Records, too. Her hit song “Foolish” was number one on six different Billboard charts, and she was the first female to land in the top ten of the Billboard Hot 100 with three entries at the same time—accomplished only by The Beatles before her. She released her follow-up album, Chapter II in 2003 with equal success. Ashanti won Grammy Awards, Billboard Awards, American Music Awards, Soul Train Awards, and a whole lot more. While all this was going on, she also filmed a slew of sexy videos, had music collabs with the likes of Ja Rule, Luther Vandross, Fat Joe, Jennifer Lopez, and more. Ashanti also kicked her acting into gear, and starred in episodes of American Dreams in 2002, Buffy the Vampire Slayer in 2003, and took on the roles of Kyra in the movie Coach Carter (2005) with Samuel L. Jackson, and Dorothy Gale in The Muppets’ Wizard of Oz (2005) with Miss Piggy and Kermit the Frog. In 2006, she got all sexy and sassy as the hip-swiveling, stomach-baring cheerleader Heather in John Tucker Must Die, and got bad-ass as Betty in Resident Evil: Extinction (2007). Her one big role on TV was as Latasha Monclair in Army Wives in 2013, with lot of guest-starring appearances. Mr. Skin could go on and on, but this is already long, and you know Ashanti.
