Our Staff Picks column takes you back to a time when video stores reigned supreme and the "Staff Picks" section was the place to find out what films were worthy of one's time. Of course, our version of Staff Picks has a decidedly skintillating angle, as we suss out which films from a particular subgenre are the best to find great nudity. This week let's cover one of the absolute BEST topics in moviemaking: stalking!
Due to the popularity of the current stalker series Baby Reindeer, I wanted to highlight stalkers. Stalkers get sexy in cinema because lust and love tend to be at the center of their obsession. That means that they tend to go nude! These titles are all highly entertaining and they also contain nudity. That's the best of all worlds!
Baby Reindeer
Let's go ahead and start with this new Netflix miniseries. It is based on real events in the star's life and he, Richard Gadd, originally coped with by putting on a one-man show that he performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2019. In this miniseries, he plays a bartender and comedian who gets stalked by a woman named Martha after he shows her one small act of kindness. Suddenly, Martha (Jessica Gunning) is showing up everywhere!
Nava Mau also shows up nude in the series which makes her our obsession. She will have you thinking about her all day long when you see Nava's naughty knockers.
Single White Female
If you ask to see a movie about a stalker, chances are nearly 100% that someone will suggest Single White Female. This is the ultimate stalker flick in which Bridget Fonda plays a cool single chick with short red hair who seeks a roommate. The woman who answers the ad is Jennifer Jason Leigh, a mousey brunette, who becomes obsessed with how cool Bridget is. We get it. Bridget is pretty dang naked - er, I mean, cool.
Jennifer becomes SO obsessed with her that she cuts her hair, dyes it red, wears the same clothes, and seduces Bridget's man. How does he fall for it so easily? Well, when Jennifer Jason Leigh is this naked, do you really want to ask questions? I didn't think so. These single white females will drive you crazy with lust.
Stalker
This 2010 horror film from England follows a writer who is attempting to plow through writer's block to finish her next novel. Maybe she can find inspiration in the stalker who shows up and won't leave her alone? Her stalker won't give her any peace and quiet to write her novel! That being said, Anna Brecon is a beacon for stalkers with her topless tub scene.
Fatal Attraction
Glenn Close proved that she was an actress who isn't afraid to Go There with her role as a one-night stand who becomes obsessed with the man she slept with, played by Michael Douglas. They had one hot night and he must have given it to her good because she goes off the rails. She is madly in love with him, showing up places and eventually doing super creepy things (the rabbit...we can never forget about the rabbit).
She may be nuts, but you will be fatally attracted when you check out Ms. Close's cans up close and personal.
Play Misty for Me
Clint Eastwood's directorial debut is rare because it actually contains nudity and his films tend to be pretty clothed. It is also a bit of a departure from the heroic material he gravitates towards considering it is a thriller about a radio DJ who is being stalked by a caller who continually asks the DJ to play a jazz song called "Misty". That sounds tame, but it doesn't stay there! What stalker story does?
Jessica Walter goes nude playing the woman who is tormenting Eastwood. I'd let her stalk me if it meant that she would go nude like this and make sweet love to me. It makes me misty just thinking about it.
